About the Position

This position offers the opportunity to work at the intersection of psychology, data science, and business, aiming to train a world-class behavioral scientist.

The PhD project focuses on consumer and managerial judgment and decision-making, contributing to high-quality, managerially relevant research. As part of this position, you will aim to publish in top-tier journals such as the Journal of Consumer Research, Journal of Marketing Research, Management Science, and Psychological Science.

Under the guidance of Prof. Dr. Bart De Langhe and Prof. Dr. Burcak Bas, you will be part of a dynamic team including PhD students, postdoctoral researchers, and faculty. Your Responsibilities

  • Conduct research on behavioral science and marketing, aiming for publication in top-tier journals.
  • Present your findings at international conferences such as the Association of Consumer Research Conference and Society of Judgment and Decision-Making Annual Meeting.
  • Take doctoral courses at KU Leuven or partner universities in areas such as business, psychology, statistics, and computer science.
  • Supervise bachelor’s and master’s thesis students.
  • Engage in limited teaching responsibilities at the Research Center for Marketing.

Eligibility Requirements

We welcome applications from candidates with:

  • A Master’s degree (or expected by the start of 2025-2026) in fields such as Psychology, Marketing, Economics, Applied Economics, Commercial Engineering, or Business Administration.
  • A strong interest in behavioral science, psychology, and data analysis/statistics.
  • Proficiency in statistical software (e.g., R or SAS) and programming languages (e.g., Python or Java) is a plus.
  • High-level English proficiency (written and oral).
