About the Position

The University of Luxembourg, a leading multilingual and interdisciplinary research institution, is offering a fully funded Doctoral Researcher position in Computational Biology at the Luxembourg Centre for Systems Biomedicine (LCSB).

The successful candidate will join the Computational Biology group, led by Prof. Antonio del Sol, and focus on developing machine learning-based approaches to identify biological pathways and genes linking aging with Alzheimer’s disease (AD). The project aims to design rejuvenation strategies for the aging brain as potential therapeutic interventions for AD.

This collaborative project will also involve experimental validation of computational predictions in collaboration with Prof. Michael Heneka at LCSB.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement machine learning-based models to study the interplay between aging and Alzheimer’s disease.
  • Identify critical biological pathways and genes relevant to the rejuvenation of the aging brain.
  • Collaborate with experimental researchers to validate computational predictions.
  • Document research findings and contribute to publications in peer-reviewed journals.

Eligibility Requirements

Essential Qualifications:

  • Master’s degree in Computational Biology, Bioinformatics, Computer Science, or related fields.
  • Strong computational skills and familiarity with machine learning techniques.
  • Excellent working knowledge of English.

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience in mathematical modeling of biological networks.
  • Prior work in applying machine learning approaches to biological systems.
