This cutting-edge research opportunity combines computational modeling and experimental validation to address the fundamental molecular mechanisms of membrane fusion and its potential applications in drug delivery and vaccination. Membrane fusion is a vital biological process with roles in neurotransmission, immune responses, and intracellular trafficking.
This project seeks to design novel peptides and peptide aggregates capable of inducing spontaneous membrane fusion. Using computational approaches, we aim to identify critical peptide properties to manipulate key fusion states, including the membrane stalk, hemifusion diaphragm, and fusion pore. The computational predictions will be validated through fluorescence and electron microscopy techniques, offering a comprehensive approach to peptide design.
Key Responsibilities
Develop computational methods to identify properties of peptides influencing membrane fusion.
Conduct de novo peptide design to manipulate fusion processes.
Validate computational predictions through experimental methods, such as fluorescence microscopy and electron microscopy.
Collaborate with team members and contribute to ongoing projects within the research group.
Present findings in scientific publications and at international conferences.
