Eligibility Requirements
We are hiring a motivated and skilled candidate with the following qualifications:
Educational Background:
Master’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, or a related field.
Technical Expertise:
Strong familiarity with (heterogeneous) catalysis.
Knowledge of microporous material synthesis and/or electrochemistry is highly desirable.
Practical experience with standard characterization tools such as GC, XRD, TGA, TPD, and FTIR is an advantage.
Research Interest:
Enthusiasm for both mechanistic and applied research in green chemistry and catalysis.
Language Proficiency:
Proficiency in English (spoken and written) is essential. Candidates whose Master’s degree was not taught in English or Dutch must provide proof of proficiency:
IELTS: Minimum score of 7 (no subscores below 6.5).
TOEFL: Minimum score of 94 (no subscores below 22).
Personal Attributes:
Strong ability to work independently and collaboratively within an ambitious research team.
Excellent communication and organizational skills.
Responsibilities
As a PhD candidate, you will:
Conduct Research:
Investigate the CO2-to-methanol reaction and tandem CO2 conversion to hydrocarbons.
Study the impact of new material production methods on catalytic performance, focusing on product yield, olefin/paraffin ratios, and hydrocarbon selectivity.
Explore operando control of reaction conditions via surface resonance modulations.
Collaborate and Communicate:
Work closely with academic partners and the Dusselier research group.
Present findings through publications, seminars, and conferences.
Support Teaching:
Participate in teaching activities and seminars as part of the doctoral training requirements.
Develop Expertise:
Enhance your skills in advanced characterization techniques and catalytic material design.
