About the Project
The PhD research focuses on one of two core areas:
Urban Transport System Electrification Develop optimization methods for critical decision-making processes, such as infrastructure planning, fleet management, route optimization, and charging schedules for electric vehicles across various modes of transport.
Traffic System Management with Connected and Automated Vehicles (CAVs) Explore strategies to harness CAV connectivity and controllability for managing traffic flow and reducing congestion. Research areas include intersection control, ramp metering, path planning, and vehicle routing.
The selected candidate will have the flexibility to align their research interests with these areas and contribute innovative ideas.
Major Responsibilities
Conduct cutting-edge research in intelligent transportation systems.
Complete doctoral coursework and participate in teaching activities.
Develop research concepts and grow into an independent researcher.
Collaborate with industry partners (e.g., Volvo) to maximize real-world impact.
Publish findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
Qualifications
A Master’s degree in transportation, operations research, applied mathematics, computer science, or a related field (240 higher education credits).
Strong foundation in optimization theory or machine learning is advantageous.
Proficiency in English (written and verbal).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
