This cutting-edge research addresses the growing need for sustainable practices in the construction industry by exploring the principles of circularity at the end-of-life stage of buildings. The successful candidate will use Building Information Modelling (BIM) to extract building and material attributes and apply machine learning techniques to classify and predict circularity alternatives. The project will contribute to the development of a digitized platform that provides practical recommendations for circularity during deconstruction. This research is expected to have a significant impact on sustainable construction practices and resource efficiency.
Your Responsibilities
As a PhD researcher, your primary tasks will include:
Developing AI Models: Design and train machine learning algorithms for predicting circularity alternatives for building materials.
Building Information Modelling (BIM): Extract and utilize building and material attributes to inform AI models.
Contributing to Sustainability Research: Enhance the understanding and application of circularity principles in the construction industry.
Collaborating with Practitioners: Develop tools and methodologies that practitioners can adopt for sustainable building deconstruction.
Disseminating Research: Present findings at academic conferences, publish in peer-reviewed journals, and contribute to knowledge exchange with industry stakeholders.
