The Department of Mathematics and Computer Science at the University of Southern Denmark (SDU) invites applications for a PhD position in Operator Algebras, with a focus on the structure of nuclear C*-algebras, operator systems, and generalized inductive limits. The position is tied to the Inge Lehmann project “C-algebras at the Limit: a new construction”* funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark. The starting date is June 1, 2025 (or a nearby date).
About the Position
As a PhD student, you will:
Conduct research on nuclear C*-algebras and operator systems, with an emphasis on generalized inductive limits.
Work closely with Assistant Professor Kristin (Courtney) Gabe and the Operator Algebra Group within the Topology, Analysis, Algebra, and Geometry (TAAG) research section.
Be part of a vibrant research community, with strong ties to SDU’s Center for Quantum Mathematics.
Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals and present at international conferences.
Collaborate with faculty and researchers within the TAAG section, focusing on pure mathematics and operator algebras.
Eligibility Requirements

Educational Qualifications:
A Master’s degree in Mathematics (to be completed by the start date).
A solid background in functional analysis and an interest in operator algebras.
Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
