The University of Cologne is hiring a highly motivated doctoral candidate to join the optical condensed matter research group within the Institute of Physics II, Faculty of Mathematics and Natural Sciences. This position offers an exciting opportunity to explore and control terahertz-induced dynamics in quantum materials using cutting-edge pump-probe spectroscopy techniques.
The successful candidate will conduct innovative research in the field of time-resolved terahertz spectroscopy, participate in international collaborations, and contribute to advancements in condensed matter physics.
Your Responsibilities
Investigate non-linear dynamics in quantum materials using terahertz spectroscopy.
Present research findings in seminars, conferences, and publish in peer-reviewed journals.
Actively participate in scientific events and advanced training programs for doctoral candidates.
Supervise and teach Bachelor’s and Master’s students.
Eligibility Requirements
Academic Qualifications:
Master’s degree in Physics, Applied Optics, or Materials Science.
Technical Skills and Knowledge:
Hands-on experience with femtosecond lasers and time-resolved pump-probe spectroscopy.
Solid background in condensed matter physics and/or terahertz photonics.
Advanced skills in data analysis and interpretation.
Proficiency in programming (e.g., Python, MATLAB, LabVIEW, Origin) is desirable.
